Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Thumbs Up!

I am healthy!

My heart, thyroid, red and white blood cells, liver, kidneys, sugar, cholesterol, magnesium and potassium .. all perfect.

I am, however, chronically deficient in Vitamin D .. so I need to get out in the sunshine more often, with as much bare skin as possible .. this does NOT mean that I'll be in the market for a bikini!

Aside from the obligatory offer of a prescription drug from Doctor Dubious, his advice was to continue trike riding and walking with Adoring Husband on the beach, reduce my coffee intake (I promised to reduce from two coffees a day to one a day) and avoid stress.

I am very happy with this outcome. It is far and above anything I had imagined and now I can concentrate on continuing to be healthy.

I love good news!

Of course, some retail therapy was in order - you know - to celebrate my good fortune. So I bought a bucket load of journals (six if I recall correctly), two tops and two bottoms and three bracelets and Series 13 of Grey's Anatomy.

It was quite late by the time we returned home and we had to stop at the local supermarket and butcher, then on to book my return train ticket to the Sunny Coast.

We came home and ate lunch before I gave one of the psychotic dogs a haircut. Colli is looking very presentable now and I snipped the top of my left little finger in the process, which is now feeling quite tender. I'll bathe it in colloidal silver before bed.

I need to head off to bed because The Nikonian will be here in the morning and I need to look fresh and vibrant for the photo shoot!! It's a terrifying prospect for me because I like to be the one behind the camera, not in front of it. However, I trust The Nikonian and have complete faith in her photographic abilities .. and also her ability to make me look good :)

No pressure.

Nite all.
