Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Oozing Brain

Who knew that bone was more than just bone?

Well, ok, I knew that there was marrow in bone and I knew that there was cartilage somewhere on the bone.

A bone also comprises of epiphysis, diaphysis, compact bone, spongy bone, periosteum, medullary cavity, nerves, blood vessels and four types of cells - osteoblasts, osteocytes, osteoclasts and bone-lining cells.

But wait! There's more! I won't bore you with it though - I hear your sigh of relief.

With every single day of study, I am more amazed by the human body and how it works. We really are quite a miracle of nature and I often, in the course of my study days, find myself shaking my head in disbelief.

I got some good hours of study in today, despite Adoring Husband conducting his SES business very loudly in various parts of the house!

For lunch today, we had a big plate of roasted sweet potato, cauliflower, zucchini, carrot and tomato with last night's leftover kangaroo heated up in a cashew cream onion sauce.

Dinner tonight was turkey mince. In the turkey mince was turmeric, paprika, cumin, butter, onion, garlic, rainbow chard, sweet potato, choko, cabbage, cherry tomatoes, chilli tomato sauce, chicken broth and cashew cream. I really loved it and there is some leftover for tomorrow night.

Tomorrow, I am going to attempt pork belly with crackling again .. I have it drying out in the fridge overnight and I'm going to do my darndest to get it right for our lunch time meal. Wish me luck!

Thought you might get a giggle out of these pics ...

Nite all ... or ... HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!

Drying your pork belly - uncovered - in the fridge will give you crunchy crackling every time Roz! Oh I really hope so! This is my all time favourite recipe for pork belly.
